Welcome to my YouTube spotlight series. As an avid follower of about 50 channels, I’m going to praise some of my favorite content creators. This includes people who have subscriber totals ranging from the tens of thousands to millions. I like to follow channels that cover sports, horror, mystery, debate, wrestling, otters, and charismatic content creators who have a cheerful demeanor.

What Is Pat McAfee Incorporated (PMI)

Pat McAfee & The PMI Family create weekday sports content that can cure anyone who has spent too much time around stooges, clowns clahns, or mainstream sports sources.

The Pat McAfee Show is the Red Hot Chili Peppers of the alternative sports media landscape. They’re a band of very entertaining men who completely dominate their genre. The spinoff shows provide a great free outlet for sports gamblers (Hammer Dahn), hockey fans (That’s Hockey Talk), and people who just want to shoot the breeze (The Pod).

The PMI Family includes but isn’t limited to “The Boys” below:

Why You Should Subscribe To Pat McAfee Incorporated (PMI)

McAfee has a somewhat similar backstory to the man who was shouted out during Edition 2: Tom Grossi. Much like Grossi gave up a teaching career to go full time as a sports talk host on YouTube, McAfee gave up a very successful NFL punting career to do that. One key difference is that McAfee did it on a much bigger stage. McAfee has already received a $120 million sponsorship deal from FanDuel.

Do sports talk icons such as Michael Wilbon and Chris “Mad Dog” Russo believe in their criticisms against McAfee and Draymond Green or are they too ignorant to understand that athletes can have more than one talent? The pundits tell the athletes to “sHuT uP & pLaY” when there’s a disagreement; however, if the pundits agree with the athletes, then they demand the athletes to use their star power to speak out.

Neither McAfee nor any other player is required to serve as a puppet of the mainstream media. Athletes can speak out on whatever topics they’re interested in, not the ones that are demanded of them.
A host doesn’t agree with them? Then debate them, don’t discriminate them because of their trade.

The success of the Pat McAfee Show isn’t even as much about the information presented as it is the relationships that McAfee has developed with his supporting cast. He isn’t afraid to let his producers chime in; he encourages it. McAfee and Tone Digs grew up together in Pittsburgh. Gump Cathcart was working at a Canadian shipyard.

And we can’t forget the most toxic bastard in sports talk entertainment, A.J. Hawk.

The interviews are the best part of this podcast. Aaron Rodgers is far more open on this show than he is with the regular media that always criticizes him. NFL insider Ian Rapoport appears to have more fun when he’s on this show. McAfee is an incredible interviewer who knows how to get everyone settled into a nice conversation. About the only time you’ll see any negative attitude is when they talk about MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. That’s also about the only time you’ll hear anyone talk about baseball unless MLB columnist Jeff Passan comes on.

The Pat McAfee Show is a must watch for any football fan who hasn’t at least given it a chance. They’re a big reason as to why I still follow the sport. I’ve grown tired of the negativity from almost every other source either attacking players for clicks or turning everything into a political tirade.

The Pat McAfee Show and its spinoffs provide a much more fun and joyful experience.

What I’d Like To See From Pat McAfee Incorporated (PMI)

I’d say some daily fantasy sports (DFS) coverage on Hammer Dahn but I’m barely playing it anymore because the gambling companies are taking too much rake to make it worth my time. I’m sure that all The Pod members are relieved that I didn’t say “Seven days a week.” I don’t have enough time for that so I’m cool with them keeping it at one.

Just keep doing your thing because ya’ll are awesome.

This is where it all begins. McAfee and all the boys get together to talk about sports and whatever is on their minds. The Pat McAfee Show provides quality interviews with positive takes on the NFL and other major stories throughout the sports landscape. It’s a breath of fresh air from everyone else who tends the follow the path of “Negativity sells.”

Other Channels

The Pod

The Pod is a podcast (duh) where the PMI Family spends about 90 minutes having casual conversations about current topics that affect Hollywood, culture, their personal lives, and anything that they can make fun of in good spirit. I’d compare it to the people in high school who were free spirits that didn’t dictate their life around what everyone else thought.

Occasionally, Pat McAfee joins them. The community has been begging A.J. Hawk to join them for an episode.

Hammer Dahn

This is a surprisingly good gambling show for something that’s free for the general public. Gump Cathcart, Tone Digs, Nick Maraldo and Mitt gamble on about anything that you can think of. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, UFC, college sports, etc. They’ll talk about nearly anything that’s related to male sports.

There was a video in 2021 where Gump claimed that his MLB picks success rate was just below 60 percent. He rarely picks anything worse than -160 so that’s pretty good. I’d recommend following him because he tends to go on hot streaks. You can increase the value of his picks if you’re smart enough to make these two proper adjustments:

  1. Know when to adjust the +0.5 lines to moneyline. Gump is risk averse because he’s more concerned about promoting his winning percentage than maximizing the monetary value. That’s the right move for him but not for the bettor.
  2. Know when to bet on the full game instead of the first five innings. There are times when it makes sense to bet the full game because the other team either has a bad bullpen or they’re on a losing trend.

Mitt is a hype boy who sort of plays a heel role among the regulars. I’m unsure about his success rate. I’ve seen enough from him to know that he lets his heart get in the way of picking games that involve his favorite teams. He picked the Miami Hurricanes over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama won 44-13 in a game that wasn’t that close.

You should give this show a chance. Gump tweets his weekend picks on Saturday and Sunday morning.

That’s Hockey Talk

This doesn’t get the same exposure as their other channels because hockey isn’t a big sell in the states. Hockey fans should still check it out. It’s an entertaining broadcast that features stories from former NHL center Mike Rupp. There are good interviews as seen above with former Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist goaltender MarcAndre Fleury.
